On my coffee table: Nina Garcia

January 24, 2013

I think it’s safe to say that coffee table books are a big deal right now. There are so many options from decor, or travel, to of course fashion related books. And while I’d love to stack up books by the likes of Tom Ford or Louis Vuitton, the prices they charge for books like these are sometimes astronomical. So if you’ve just moved into your first apartment, or are on a budget because you are saving up for a new car, or the vacation of a lifetime, obviously a more affordable solution has to be found.

Personally I’m a huge fan, of fun books full of colorful pictures or illustrations, which are convenient to thumb through, while you wait for your better half to be finished in the bathroom (just an example, ;D) Lauren Conrad’s books ’Style’ and ’Beauty’ are great examples in my opinion.

Recently I’ve picked up two new additions to my collection of coffee table books. Nina Garcia’s Look Book – What to wear for every occasion (she even talks about what to wear when you’re about to meet your boyfriends ex!) and One Hundred – a guide to the pieces every stylish woman should own.

Both books are full of lovely hand-drawn illustrations, little nuggets of wisdom and fun quotes by everyone from Coco Chanel to Gwen Stefani. All in all they make for a great, light read after an exhausting day.

(Nina Garcia has worked for Marc Jacobs, Elle, and is currently fashion director of Marie Claire as well as a Project Runway judge so she really knows her stuff.)
